Exhibition Preface: The ‘A Casa’ project was born in the summer of 2020, when the museum’s curators and three artists discovered interesting convergences of paths, both physical and conceptual. This encounter led David Adamo, Giacomo Porfiri and Wolfgang Staehle to explore Casa Jorn and imagine a shared experience, described as ‘A situation strongly and proudly set against the degradation of everyday life’. The three artists’ reflection on the multicultural and free identity of Casa Jorn developed through long conversations in their shared studio. These exchanges were also inspired by the fact that Giacomo Porfiri kept alive the connection with his family home, located in Celle Ligure in an olive grove on a hill connected to Casa Jorn by ancient mule tracks and forest paths. The three artists have therefore conceived a project that will lead them to experience Asger Jorn’s house collectively at different times of the year. Through progressive journeys from Berlin to Liguria, Adamo, Porfiri and Staehle will transform the spaces of the house-museum into a laboratory of experience and situation creation, involving museum staff, visitors and the local community. The goal is to build a condition that demonstrates the possibility of living and creating in an alternative way, by different means, away from commercial pressures and media overexposure.
