Andrea Sassi, founder and artistic director of dispari&dispari, announces the opening of his new location for contemporary art events in the city of Berlin.
With the project ‘Being Sassy’ by the London duo Cullinan Richards, the dispari&dispari Berlin art season opens officially. The exhibition, conceived as a staged event in three acts will present a series of works, installations and situations in constant rotation.
The first version of the project titled ‘Saucy Merx’ will be staged on Saturday, September 29th. A temporary installation with paint cans, plastic piles, painted tablecloths, chips and sauces, bottles of beer, piles of paintings and ceiling chandeliers will characterize the exhibition space with their ungainly and bulky presence. Here everything is untied, chaotic, and the perception of the exhibition itself is undefined.
On Saturday, October 13th. the second version entitled ‘Haulage’ will be presented. Through the definition of spaces, times and roles a new order will be reconstituted and the exhibition will conform to those that today are considered the traditional canons. Severity and cleanliness will dictate the rules of a new installation facility. The impact will be that of a formal exhibition with paintings hanging on the walls and sculptures placed in the centre of the room.
On Saturday, November 13th is scheduled ‘Fuell’ the third and last version of the ‘Being Sassy’ project. The installation of the exhibition will be overturned once again and the classic canons will be subverted in favor of a new temporary installation. The freedom of the composition will once again take the upper hand of the rules.
With the ‘Being Sassy’ project, Cullinan Richards intend to reflect on the transitory nature of their work.
