Sotwaha by Petr Bystrov

dispari&dispari is pleased to invite you on Saturday 15 June 2019 at 6.00 pm at the opening ceremony of Sotwaha, a gym for body training under the direction of Petr Bystrov.

From June to September, the Russian artist will convert the gallery’s exhibition space into a gym. All the machines and gymnastic equipment have been conceived as artistic works that the participating athletes can use daily to train specific parts of the body that are not stimulated with traditional exercises. Sotwaha literally means: Training system with items at hand. It is an exercise program with objects extrapolated from everyday life that has been developed by the artist over the course of several years for a regeneration of the body and mind. In Sotwaha the aesthetic value of the works is subject to their use. With this project Petr Bystrov intends to experiment with some paradoxes between aesthetic and athletic learning, by sharing his personal training practice with the public.

The exhibition is open to the public until September 8th.

From 16 June to 23 June every day from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm
From June 25th to September 8th every day by appointment only.
The gallery is closed from 21 July to 25 August.
