Press Release: dispari&dispari is delighted to invite you to the screening of Ulrika Segerberg’s latest short film “42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded – theCollapse”, Episode # 3. The preview screening on Thursday November 14, marks the final event of Segerberg’s exhibition in which a motley display of props, sculptures and paintings from the films have been on view. For the screening these will be showcased in a new arrangement. The projection starts at 7 p.m.

La proiezione in anteprima di giovedì 14 novembre, segna l’evento finale della mostra di Segerberg in cui è stata esposta una vasta gamma di oggetti di scena, sculture e dipinti dai film. Ulrika Segerberg (Sweden 1976) studied art in Amsterdam and is living and working in Berlin for many years. Her work is a continuous evolution of images, forms, words, materials and colors that develops from one medium into the next. She nurtures and cares for the improvised, the chance, the mistake, the collapse rather than the perfect plan. Various collaborations with artist colleagues and friends lately forms an important part of her working process – together with Katrin Plavčak she is the duo M.O.G. (Mothers of God). With contact-microphones and a looper they improvise on sewing machines. She also writes lyrics and sings in MATKA, an electronic music and vocal project with the producer and musician Martin Kleinmichel.

Il suo lavoro è una continua evoluzione di immagini, forme, parole, materiali e colori che si sviluppa da un mezzo all’altro. Nutre e cura l’improvvisazione, il caso, l’errore, il crollo piuttosto che il piano perfetto. Le varie collaborazioni con colleghi e amici artisti costituiscono ultimamente una parte importante del suo processo di lavoro – insieme a Katrin Plavčak costituisce il duo M.O.G. (Mothers of God). Press Release: dispari&dispari invites you to attend Scary Movie, a terrifying evening of horror cinema on Thursday, Oct. 17. The gallery space will be converted into a movie theater for a preview screening of the second chapter of the 42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded series. For the occasion, the props made by Segerberg that were displayed in the exhibition according to classical canons will be set up in the gallery space in a more extravagant and engaging way.

In addition to 42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded – Episode # 2 will also be screened the Episode # 1. At the end of the screenings there will be a discussion with the artist in which some crucial moments of the film will be presented and discussed as well as the motivations that prompted Ulrika Segerberg to try her hand at this multimedia endeavor. Popcorn and drinks are of course included. Screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. continuously. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Comunicato Stampa: dispari&dispari vi invita a partecipare a Scary Movie, una terrificante serata di cinema horror giovedì 17 ottobre. Lo spazio della galleria si convertirà in una sala cinematografica per la proiezione in anteprima del secondo capitolo della serie 42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded. Per l’occasione, gli oggetti di scena realizzati da Segerberg che nella mostra sono stati esposti secondo canoni classici, saranno allestiti nello spazio espositivo in modo più stravagante e coinvolgente.

Oltre a 42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded – Episode # 2 sara proiettato anche l’Episode # 1. Al termine delle proiezioni sarà intavolata una discussione con l’artista in cui verranno presentati e discussi alcuni momenti cruciali del film e le motivazioni che hanno spinto Ulrika Segerberg a cimentarsi in questo sforzo multimediale. Popcorn e bevande sono ovviamente incluse. Le proiezioni iniziano alle 19.30 fino alle 22.00 ininterrottamente. Le porte si aprono alle 19.00.

Press Release: On the occasion of the opening of her solo exhibition “42theFloor / the Shadow Exploded” in the spaces of Dispari&dispari in Berlin, Ulrika Segerberg presents her first short film, inspired by the film “Carrie” directed by Brian De Palma in 1976 and based on Stephen King’s 1974 novel. Each scene in the film was shot in the studio, using artwork created by the artist specifically for each scene. These sculptures, paintings, ceramics and various objects will be arranged in this first phase of the exhibition according to a strict, traditional approach to guide the imagination without letting it go too far.

Press Release: dispari&dispari is pleased to invite you to attend the opening of Ulrika Segerberg’s exhibition: 42theFloor / The Shadow Exploded. This new project will engage the exhibition space and the public in a constant state of becoming, creating a dynamic interaction between art, installation and performance. For the next two months the exhibition space will be the setting for the scenarios created for “42theFloor / The Shadow Exploded, a series of short films made by Ulrika Segerberg.

42theFloor / The Shadow Exploded takes its cue from the horror film Carrie (directed by Brian De Palma in 1976 and based on Stephen King’s 1974 novel of the same name). The mixed-media project brings together many media and materials that have been part of Ulrika Segerberg’s recent practice: installation, sculpture, video, sound, music and text. The set reminiscent of a horror movie scenario will contain props and costumes produced by the artist for the project, and the permanent green screen used as a backdrop to record images of the new chapter. A series of experimental film/music videos and objects based on details from the film Carrie will be the final result of the project. The interaction of actors with props and artworks will give the exhibition a constant “floating state,” a unique opportunity for an immersive and ever-changing experience.

With this project dispari&dispari once again chooses a dynamic approach to contemporary art events by allowing itself to be shaped at will by the artist to fulfill different functions, from exhibition hall to cinema to performance stage, again favoring this malleable aspect that is directing all Berlin production.

42theFloor / The Shadow Exploded prende spunto dal film horror Carrie (diretto da Brian De Palma nel 1976 e basato sull’omonimo romanzo di Stephen King, 1974). Il progetto a tecnica mista riunisce molti mezzi e materiali che hanno fatto parte della pratica recente di Ulrika Segerberg: installazione, scultura, video, suono, musica e testo. Il set, che ricorda lo scenario di un film horror, conterrà oggetti di scena e costumi prodotti dall’artista per il progetto e il green screen permanente utilizzato come sfondo per registrare le immagini dei nuovi capitoli. Una serie di film/music video sperimentali e oggetti basati su dettagli del film Carrie saranno il risultato finale del progetto. L’interazione degli attori con gli oggetti di scena e le opere d’arte conferirà alla mostra un costante “stato di galleggiamento”, un’opportunità unica per vivere un’esperienza immersiva e in continua trasformazione.

Con questo progetto dispari&dispari sceglia ancora una volta un approccio dinamico alle manifestazioni d’arte contemporanea lasciandosi plasmare a proprio piacimento dall’artista per assolvere diverse funzioni, da sala mostre a cinema a palcoscenico per le performance, privilegiando ancora una volta questo aspetto malleabile che sta indirizzando tutta la produzione berlinese.
